A non-traditional approach to the colors of a rose. The blue rose is the main focus of the painting although the vivid red background compliments it but does not overwhelm the composition. A touch of light is seen in the texture of the leaves which gradually recede in darker shades of purple. Overall, this work sets a bit of mystery and takes away from the expected image of a red rose.
